RAMPU LATERN BY PETR HÁK

The lanterns in a deep crimson shade were designed by designer Peter Hák and follow the visual style typical of Cirque.Menu - red shades, minimalist design and laser beams. I took care of the technical side of the production with 3D printing. Prusa Research supplied the shredded filament, which did not meet the strict quality criteria for production and would have had to be discarded under standard conditions. In this way, it was put to meaningful use and given a second life.

The RAMPU lanterns were created for the unique Cirque.Menu project, which connects the world of architecture, design and gastronomy. The original series of parties organised as part of Designblok was expanded to include the Cirque Unique Mystique Magnifique pre-Christmas dinner, and it was for this gathering that the lanterns were designed to co-create the magical atmosphere of a unique gastronomic experience.

Built layer by layer from recycled material

The layers of red material subtly distort the otherwise simple morphology of the product. The semi-transparent walls soften and diffuse the internal light source. The subtle red light of the lantern thus has a mysterious and dramatic effect. Thanks to the different sizes, the lanterns can be used as a solitaire in a space or to create unique compositions.

The lanterns are printed on a large-format 3D printer from shredded filament supplied by Prusa Research, which did not meet strict quality criteria for production and would have to be discarded under standard conditions.
